This wine is supple, poised and elegant, with deep fruit notes wrapped around a core of dense tannins. The aromas linger in the air, with layers of sassafras, mulled cherry cider, warm brown sugar and herbes de Provence. On the palate, excellent acidity balances the tannins, which are intricate and fine grained, and while there is abundant flavor, the wine is surprisingly lithe and dynamic.

• 91 Points | “Bright, saturated ruby-red. Extremely closed but pure nose hints at crushed raspberry, spices and sexy Provencal herbs, with a sweet suggestion of brown sugar. Round and broad-shouldered but quite dry on the palate, showing an intriguing loamy nuance. A substantial wine from a cold site, and bigger than usual for this bottling.
