The 2003 Pisoni Vineyard Pinot Noir has a super nose of cherries and blueberry cobbler with layer after layer of flavors and aromas. Spicy one minute, then a hit of jammy fruit, then a licorice, fennel note — “gymnastics in a glass” is how one enthusiastic taster described the wine. With dense, sweet tannins and firm acidity, this wine is just hinting at its potential. Of all of the great Pinots we made in 2003, this is my bet for the wine that will age the best.
