Zio Tony Ranch
2014 Russian River Valley Chardonnay
Zio Tony Vineyard always yields one of our most complex and beautifully structured wines, and the 2014 vintage is no exception. The nose offers abundant layers of cantaloupe, pineapple, peach and mango, as well as notes of clove, smoke and spice. On the palate, a subtle chalky minerality frames the exuberant fruit flavors, and while this wine offers excellent acidity, there is also an appealing roundness to the mouthfeel that carries the wine to a supple, yet focused, finish.

“The 2014 Chardonnay Zio Tony Ranch (50% new French oak) came in at only 496 cases. It is from the Martinelli-owned vineyard on Frei Road in the cool, Green Valley microclimate of the Russian River. This wine shows loads of acidity, a slightly greenish hue, plenty of honeydew melons, lime and lemon oil with a hint of honeysuckle. It is medium to full-bodied, crisp, zesty and somewhat Chablis-like in its character. Drink it over the next 4-5 years. 2016 – 2021” - Robert Parker
