The Hyde Vineyard Allocation
Since 1990, we have been producing wines from Hyde Vineyard, one of California’s premier winegrowing sites. Both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from this site – once a sheep field before being planted by Larry Hyde in 1979 – express the vineyard’s unique qualities in their complexity, structure, and elegance. We are lucky to count Larry as a friend and pleased to mark our 25th year of working with him to invite you to add the 2022 Hyde Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to your cellar.

I called Larry one afternoon in 1990, mentioned that the owner of the winery I was working at only wanted half the block he had contracted from Hyde Vineyard, and asked if Larry would consider contracting the other half to Patz & Hall, then only an ambitious (and expensive) side project of ours. Larry said yes! This was the beginning of what has now become our longest vineyard relationship. Thirty-five vintages later, we’re still buying Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay, as well as Pinot Noir—and yes, they’re still some of the best wines made in California.
