Spring Table Duo
Two of the Russian River Valley’s most storied growers. Two wines that belong on a spring table. One offer.
Kent Ritchie planted his northwest-facing hillside in Forestville in the 1970s — a site that has since become one of California’s most sought-after sources for Chardonnay. The Sanchiettis have farmed the Santa Rosa Plains since 1919, when Luigi and Filomena arrived from Italy and put down roots that four generations haven’t seen fit to leave. Mark Sanchietti tends that land today, growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with the instincts of someone who grew up watching his father do the same.
For both families, spring is the season that makes everything else make sense. We thought it was a fitting moment to bring their wines together.
Kent Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay 2022 — $65 individually Ripe pear, pink honeysuckle, jasmine and white nectarine. Ample weight on the palate, with a minerality fluttering in the background and juicy acidity on the finish.
Sanchietti Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022 — $55 individually Ripe blue plum, heady raspberry and a touch of classic Russian River cola. Elegant oak spice of clove and anise, with a herbal, leafy complexity on a long, meandering finish.
